Getting to the City

Airport

The Minneapolis-Saint Paul Airport (MSP) is within a 3-hour flight from almost everywhere in the U.S. The airport is only 12 miles from downtown Minneapolis and offers rideshare options, taxi service, and a Light Rail system.

Light Rail

The Metro Blue Line Light Rail connects MSP directly to downtown Minneapolis.

  • Where to catch it: Blue Line stations are located inside both airport terminals. Follow the signs for Light Rail or Ground Transportation. No shuttle is required. Click for MSP ground transportation information.

  • Cost: A one-way adult fare is typically $2–$2.50, depending on time of day. Tickets can be purchased at station kiosks or through the Metro Transit app. Click for Metro Transit fare details.

  • Travel time: The ride from the airport to downtown takes about 25–30 minutes.

  • Where to get off: Several downtown stops serve the convention center and conference hotels. Common stops include Government Plaza, U.S. Bank Stadium, and Warehouse District / Hennepin Avenue. Click to view the Blue Line route map.

Taxis and Ride Shares

Taxis and ride share services such as Uber and Lyft are readily available at MSP.

Getting Around the City

Downtown Minneapolis is highly walkable, and most conference hotels, restaurants, and attractions are within easy reach of the convention center. In addition to the Metro Transit system and Minneapolis Skyway, ride share services and bike rentals are also widely available.

Metro Transit

The Metro Transit system includes light rail and buses that make it easy to explore nearby neighborhoods without a car. Click to learn more about Metro Transit options.

Minneapolis Skyway System

The Minneapolis Skyway System is a network of climate-controlled pedestrian bridges that connects dozens of buildings throughout downtown. Spanning more than ten miles of enclosed walkways, the Skyway links hotels, restaurants, shops, office buildings, and transit stops, allowing visitors to move around downtown without going outdoors. This can be especially convenient in cool or rainy weather. Skyway hours vary by building, but most sections are generally open Monday through Friday during daytime business hours, with more limited access evenings and weekends.
