I'm the deputy director of Multnomah County Library in Portland, Oregon, where I lead the library’s public services division—which includes nineteen library locations, community services, and integrated services. A native Oregonian/Washingtonian, I enjoy getting out and about with my dog Brooklyn and exploring all of Portland's unique neighborhoods.

How to get there from the Oregon Convention Center:

Alberta is about 3 miles from the Oregon Convention Center. It's a 10-minute drive by car or a 20-minute ride on the #8 bus, plus a 5-minute walk.

My favorite place to eat:

Pine State Biscuits (2204 NE Alberta St., Portland) for hearty comfort food with a twist. Try the Reggie biscuit sandwich, chicken pot pie, or the shrimp-n-grits. There are three other Portland locations if you don't make it to Alberta St.

My favorite place to drink (coffee, juice, alcohol, etc.):

The Bye and Bye (1011 NE Alberta St, Portland) has a casual vibe, creative cocktails, outdoor seating, and food and drink options for my vegan friends.

My favorite place to shop:

There are plenty of small boutiques with local and handmade wares. Here is where you can find something unusual or bespoke.

My favorite place to explore:

It's called the Alberta Arts District for a reason: spend some time in the art galleries and shops before or after grabbing a bite to eat. Also, the Alberta Rose Theatre (3000 NE Alberta St., Portland) hosts eclectic music, literary, and other events in an intimate setting.
