Propose a How-To Session

The How-To Stage offers a cooperative learning experience, teaching practical, hands-on skills that can be learned in short sessions. Located in the Exhibits Hall, the PLA 2022 How-To Stage is a fun way for attendees to share their experiences and knowledge and actively participate in conference learning.

Topics could be about anything, so get creative! Visit the PLA 2020 How-To Festival page for examples of past topics.

PLA is exploring how to make our conference more equitable, diverse, and inclusive. Our first step includes seeking and strongly encouraging submissions from marginalized groups including women, people of color, the LGBTQ community, and people with disabilities. PLA may be able to provide support in completing the proposal form and/or mentoring for first-time presenters.

All PLA 2022 speakers, including How-To Stage presenters, will be expected to register for and attend the conference; to respond to PLA requests for information in a timely manner; and to read and observe the policies on canvassing, vendor participation, appropriate conduct, and speaker funding.

The submission window for proposals is now closed. Presenters will be responsible for bringing their own presentation materials. If your proposal is approved, you will be contacted by Friday, December 17, 2021. Contact Kathleen Hughes at khughes@ala.org with any questions.
