Preconference #1
Be a Great Boss: One Year to Success!
Tuesday, March 13
8:30 AM–5:30 PM
Pennsylvania Convention Center–Room 115 A/B/C
Target Audience: Any and all bosses, from brand new page or department supervisors to veteran branch managers or even directors, can benefit from ongoing growth and development.
With your own personal copy of the workbook Be A Great Boss: One Year to Success in hand, you’ll embark on a challenging process of discovery and learn how to effectively dedicate just one hour a week to your ongoing professional growth and development. Even "good bosses" will see how and where they can improve, and brand new bosses will benefit from the advice and experience the workbook has to offer. When the preconference ends, an entire year of learning will have just begun, with everyone on the path to becoming "great bosses!"
Presenter: Catherine Hakala-Ausperk, executive director, Northeast Ohio Regional Library System (NEO-RLS), Warren, Ohio
At the end of this preconference, participants will:
- Be inspired to re-dedicate themselves to their own professional growth and development;
- Realize the inescapable truth that keeping their skills sharp is critical to keeping their libraries successful;
- Be capable of managing their workdays in such a way as to free up at least one hour each week to be dedicated to their development;
- Anxiously look forward to their growth opportunities in the coming year—and beyond; and
- Be open and eager to examine all aspects of their library’s operation—and of their own performance—with the goal of continuing to find opportunities for improvement.
Cost: $210 (PLA and PaLA Members), $265 (ALA Members), and $320 (Nonmembers)
