Information for Program Organizers

Dear PLA National Conference Program Organizer:

The 2006 PLA National Conference, March 21-25, 2006, in Boston, Massachusetts promises to be the best PLA National Conference ever. We will owe our success in great part to you for all the work you will be doing in the days ahead. We could not do it without you. Thank you for your dedication to the conference and to public librarianship.

This web site, an online version of the Program Organizer’s Handbook, was created to give you easy access to an overview of the planning process, to make you aware of key deadlines and to help you get things done. Yes, there are many deadlines but it is imperative that you meet them. These deadlines are based on past experience of how much time is needed to pull it all together and with a conference of this size, we need the lead-time. We want your program to be the best it can be and by reviewing this site and keeping to the schedule, it will be!

We have refined the information, deadlines and forms contained here from the last national conference and hope your questions are answered in a straightforward way. If you ever need clarification of anything contained herein, please don’t hesitate to contact the PLA staff with questions. Your primary contacts are Linda Bostrom, Manager of Professional Development(lbostrom@ala.org), and Melissa Faubel, Meetings and Special Events Planner (mfaubel@ala.org).

Good luck and thanks for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Toni Garvey
Chair, 2006 PLA National Conference Committee
